Premiership Leading Goal Scorer Christian Martins of Glory Days Athletics passes the ball with his back to the former Okanagan F.C. player
With one week left until the Winter Break, today is the deadline for clubs to make changes onto their roster. With a maximum of 18 players for the Premiership & Championship, and 20 players in the Master's Division we at the Okanagan Premier League hope all the teams are setup for a successful 2nd half of the season. Any teams that have made changes to their roster must bring a new copy of it to their next fixture.
As we take a look at this season's progress, take a look at the Premiership where three teams are tied with 6 wins and 2 losses with a couple point differential due to penalty shootouts, this will make for an extremely entertaining 2nd half of the season for Glory Days Athletics, Kelowna United F.C. and HDC Peachland.
Elsewhere, DMA United have suffered their 3rd consecutive loss and have dropped out of 1st place in the Championship with holders Sterling Mutual taking over and Rutland Young Boys hot on their heels. Rumours are that the manager is under the microscope at DMA which was bound to be a topic of conversation amongst their three game slide. Grenfell United continues to struggle at the bottom of the table and the clock is ticking for Parched F.C. and the African Giants to start claiming points; the latter with a massive victory over Volta last time out.
Acera F.C. continue to clean up teams handily in the Master's Division, they have really been hitting stride and since the loss to KCFC, nobody has had any answers for the team at the top. JVL Excavation & Primo F.C. continue to battle out of the basement of the league. The teams play each other in the final match before the break next Sunday night. Efforts will be high to put the other squad into the bottom of the table. Pundits are wondering when some serious changes will be made within these struggling sides.
The Okanagan F.C. sides in the Premiership will have an effort at making some positive moves in their final matches before the break to avoid even more separation from the top three teams. Kelowna United play against the first team in the classic derby match-up on Monday at 8pm while Glory Days take on the u21s on Wednesday evening.
We have a special double Match of the Week as Sterling hope to maintain top position against a reeling F.C. Play it Again side who are hungry for points on Thursday. The other headliner is Rutland Young Boys taking on DMA United who they can surpass with a victory.
